New generative AI solution, AI Comment Summaries, saved HR professionals more than 40 work-months spent on laborious review processes in an early-access pilot

Sydney, Australia, May 28, 2024 – Culture Amp this month announced the general availability of Comment Summaries, powered by AI, the first of its generative AI solutions developed using  Google Cloud technology. 

In an early-access pilot spanning more than 400 Culture Amp customers worldwide, AI Comment Summaries saved HR teams an estimated 6,600 hours–the equivalent of 40 working months–that would otherwise have been spent on reading, reviewing, and manually analysing employee survey comments. The average HR admin tapped on five different summaries during the pilot, with 70% of users having a very positive experience with the solution even in its trial and feedback phase. 

AI Comment Summaries uses Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform and Culture Amp’s People Science expertise to intelligently distill key points and sentiment from many thousands of comments into comprehensive, objective, reliable and actionable summaries of just a few sentences. HR teams have already begun using these summaries to more clearly communicate issues and recommendations for employee engagement to organisational leaders. AI Comment Summaries will deliver even greater time savings once it becomes available to other leaders via shared reports, and provide wider access to critical actionable insights in the second half of this year.

Taking a responsible approach to generative AI, Culture Amp has three principles by which it develops new products: 1) build trust, 2) maintain control and 3) focus on value for the customer. AI Comment Summaries allows HR to trace and review individual comments that were used in its analysis. The solution’s underlying generative AI model can also improve its outputs based on direct input from users, including length, accuracy, and specificity of summaries – which, as improvements are made over time, will reduce any residual need for HR to manually edit or correct results.

Culture Amp has already significantly improved how well AI Comment Summaries understands the context of HR professionals’ queries through rigorous experiments putting its proprietary People Science Data into Vertex AI. Such learnings will inform future AI innovations already planned for the Culture Amp platform, which range from tools for summarising feedback, to assisting in writing performance reviews and having contextual AI embedded throughout the platform to answer key questions and surface relevant information.
